Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of acupuncture needles at specific acupuncture points on the body. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, hair-thin, flexible, single-use, sterilized and disposable.

The needles are placed at different areas of the body depending on the diagnosed pattern and may be placed on the limbs, the chest or back, the head and/or the face. When the acupuncture needles are inserted, you may experience a sensation of tingling, warmth, numbness — or you may not feel anything. This is normal, and may change from one point to the next and one treatment to the next. These various sensations are called “Da Qi” and indicate the arrival of Qi at the point/area.

People are often surprised to find acupuncture treatments can be quite relaxing. Clients often leave with a deep sense of relaxation or even a feeling of euphoria.

Electro-Acupuncture

Occasionally, electro-acupuncture stimulation of the acupuncture needles is used. This is done with a battery powered, pulse waveform output device from Pantheon Research. Positive and negative wire leads are attached by alligator clips to the inserted acupuncture needles. Electro-acupuncture is generally considered for musculoskeletal pain and addiction withdrawal.
